Echoes
The gentle hum of voices reverberates around you, despite the empty courtyard, as conversations long past swirl through the evening air, unintelligible in their quiet multitude. You make your way to the fountain in the center of the square, resting your hands against the cool stone ledge and peering into the water, watching the reflection of clouds dragging night across the sky. In a few days bunting will flutter between the houses and across the square, and some windows are already adorned with bright banners and flowers in anticipation for the upcoming Little Avoning Rose Festival. You look at the naked maypole, standing proudly against the twilight in waiting. You hope for sun.
Echoes is a game about history and memory, about the extraordinary in the ordinary, and about change, loss, and tragedy.
You play as one of the inhabitants of Little Avoning, a small town in an alternate reality where the “echoes" of memories coalesce into objects and places, and where history, both private and civic, is always close at hand.
The town is abuzz with preparations for the upcoming Little Avoning Rose Festival, a long-standing annual tradition, where everyone has a role to play in ensuring everything goes off without a hitch. However, tragedy is poised to strike, and the local way of life may soon change forever.
